Many players do not dare to play online because they think that online casinos are not legal. We clarify the errors here.
Why Online Casinos are Legal
One thing in advance: all state casinos that have a valid concession are legal and allowed. In Germany, gambling is regulated at the state level by the so-called State Treaty on Gambling. According to the paragraphs §284 and §285 of the German Criminal Code, both the offering and the participation in unlicensed Gambling is illegal and therefore prohibited. However, reputable online casinos have a license - partly also a German license.

The legal grey area in the casino business
The online casino law is currently in a legal gray area, because what about casino operators who are based abroad, but also offer the service of virtual gambling in Germany? These operators are not bound to the national borders when providing a casino on the Internet. And this is exactly where the problem lies, because are our German licensing requirements and standards transferable to foreign providers at all?
Enlightenment through laws?
Where there is no plaintiff, there is no judge, there is a saying. Rarely are the servers on which online casinos are operated not in Germany. Nevertheless, players can access the websites and thus the casinos from Germany. Since almost every casino has a valid license, playing there would be allowed. However, as a person, you are in the German area while playing. It's different when you play in Las Vegas. Gambling is allowed and even desired there. However, the person is then not in Germany while playing.
If there were clear laws on this issue, many errors and illegal actions would disappear. But we are sure that these will come.
The whole thing will only get tricky if you win larger amounts of money and then want to use them in Germany. Because, of course, the tax authorities still have a say in this. All funds over CA$ 10,000 must be declared, whether at the border at customs or during transfers.
